posted: 22.10.07
easyCruiseOne has set sail on its first Classical Greece cruise (21st October). From ancient Athens the new seven-day itinerary takes passengers on a cultural tour, visiting the spectacular sites of Ancient Greece which have shaped our understanding of the Classical World.
The itinerary allows you to discover Ancient Corinth and Nemea, the prehistoric citadel of Mycenae, and Ithaki the kingdom Odysseus sought for so many years. From Patras, passengers will journey to Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and then experience the timeless beauty of Delphi, from Itea. At Aegina, passengers can visit the imposing Temple of Aphaea, one of the best preserved temples in Greece before returning to Piraeus (Athens) for the Acropolis and the nearby Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon.
easyCruise adds optional extras
For the first time easyCruiseOne will also offer pre-bookable guided tours to a number of the important Classical sites, allowing you to explore Ancient Greece and achieve a complete understanding of the history and importance of each site. The package of five tours offers fantastic value at just £94 per person (a saving of 50% compared to on board prices). All full-day excursions include lunch in a Greek taverna, transport, guided tours and any entrance fees. Half board meal packages can now also be purchased online at the time of booking for £8 per person, per day. Daily housekeeping is also available to purchase online at the time of booking for £2 per person, per day.
There will also be the opportunity to hear lectures given by expert academics. Dr Colin Macdonald, renowned Aegean pre-historian from the British School at Athens, is onboard the first cruise and Dr Michael Scott, popular Classicist and fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge, will be onboard the 11th – 18th November cruise. Further lecture details will be made available on the easyCruise website later this month.
There's also plenty to enjoy back on board easyCruiseOne. Passengers can take advantage of the Apivita spa, de-stress in the sauna, enjoy a leisurely meal or drink, lose themselves in easyCruiseOne's collection of classical themed literature before heading back to their cabins (available in standard twins, superior doubles and suites). Prices start from £140 per cabin based on two people sharing a standard inside cabin. Suites are available from £644 per cabin, based on two people sharing. Prices are for accommodation only. Meals, drinks, spa treatments, tours and housekeeping services can be purchased on board.
easyCruiseOne's Classical Greece itinerary is now on sale for departures until April 6th 2008.
