Who is Efi Sfyri...

In the summer of 1998, after 13 years on the indoor Volleyball courts, Efi Sfyri decided to devote herself exclusively to Beach Volleyball. At the time her success included 5 Greek championships with the team of Panathinaikos, numerous successes with the Greek national team and quite a few personal distinctions. However nobody foresaw the international success that would follow. Always with her team-mate Vasiliki Karadasiou, Efi won 5 Greek championship medals before winning the European Open in 1999, the European championship Gold medal in 2001 and the Bronze in 2002. The team represented Greece in the Olympic games of 2000 and 2004 where they placed 9th. Other distinctions include 4th place in the Japanese FIVB Open tournament and 3 medals in the FIVB challenger tournaments.

After the last Olympic games, Efi became quite popular especially amongst kids that are interested in the Beach Volleyball sport. As a result in 2007 Efi opens the "easyCruise Beach Volleyball Academy" at the Vari Sports Club location in Athens with children and adult departments.

At the same time she publishes her first book entitled "Beach Volleyball – Learn the game on the sand". Efi's intention is for this book to become a valuable tool for those interested in this sport and to reveal the secrets of the game, by teaching the rules, methods, techniques and tactics of beach volleyball and also give advice on exercise and healthy eating.

Efi is a graduate of the Physical Education and Sport Science Dept. of the University of Athens and is an officer of the Greek Coast Guard.
