Cambridge Union debate on the Parthenon Marbles to be sponsored by easyCruise

On 18th February 2008 the Cambridge Union will host the following debate: "This House Would Return the Parthenon Marbles to the New Acropolis Museum in Athens". It is expected to have high calibre and specialised speakers on both sides, as is the norm in all the Union's debates.

The event will be sponsored by easyCruise.com, which specialises in year-round cruises to Greece and the surrounding areas. easyCruise offers a range of itineraries from 4 night long weekends to 10 day holidays on easyCruiseOne and second ship, easyCruise Life. In addition easyCruise also offers a Classical Greece Cruise with easyCruiseOne, which gives passengers the unique opportunity of visiting some of the most spectacular sites of Ancient Greece within the space of a week. It has already succeeded in contributing towards gaining a greater understanding of how the Ancient World still affects the one we live in today and it was this that led easyCruise to decide to sponsor a debate on the topic of the Parthenon Marbles, one of the greatest cultural debates of our time. It is also one that has sparked controversy throughout the last century.

Stelios, the chairman and founder of the company says: "It makes sense for easyCruise to be associated with an academic debate of the highest standard. In the past, I have myself spoken at the Cambridge Union on Entrepreneurship and it was on this occasion that I was introduced to a young archaeologist named Kelly Agathos, who was studying at Cambridge. Kelly graduated with a degree in Archaeology and now works with the easyCruise team in Athens. As part of her work on the Classical Greece programme, Kelly organised the easyCruise sponsorship of this debate."

Stelios is not going to be a speaker in the debate. This task will be left to the specialists, invited by the Cambridge Union, who are expected to announce the speakers for the debate in due course. For further details visit the Cambridge Union website.
